Star Better Learning, Inc. (SBL) is a non profit organiztion founded in 2006. We help families with children who have autism and other developmental disorders through the finding and placement of tutors and the training of the same through related organizations. We serve the families in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentuky.
Autism is the nation's fastest-growing serious developmental disorder, now affecting 1 in 150 children in the United States, up more than tenfold from just a decade ago. There are almost 1.5 million cases of autism in this country alone including more than half a million children, with 3 children being diagnosed per hour. Most people with autism will face lifelong supervision and care. However, research has found that early childhood intervention with more than 30 hours one-on-one teaching per week has been so far most effective method to improve these children's basic learning skills and daily living skills. Finding tutors has been a long standing need in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentuky.
SBT tutors join a child's educational team organized by the parents and/or the child’s school educators. SBL tutors provide one-on-one teaching services under the guidance of the educational team at child’s home, school and/or any other designated locations defined by the parents.
Suitable tutors may include college students, graduate students, teachers and professionals who are passionate, patient, enthusiastic and well educated. SBL also serves as an organization where tutors are encouraged to build a satisfactory career path working with children with developmental disorders as well as the families are advised for building a long lasting relationship with their tutors.
